The Scoop :: Cool Treats in Tallahassee

You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream, Gelato, Snow Cones, and Yogurt!

It’s August, and the weather is hot, humid, and sticky, and the craving for something cold to eat is constant.  Look no further than the following places for cool treats in Tallahassee:

Ice Cream/Gelato

Barb’s Gourmet Brittles – You might not think they serve ice cream here by the title of the store, but they do!  You can also purchase cookies and brittle candy.  Grab that cone and take a walk around Lake Ella, which is right beside the store.
1671 N. Monroe Street, Cottage 6A
Tallahassee FL, 32303

Bruster’s Ice Cream – Bruster’s not only has your standard ice cream cones but also cakes and pies.  Their flavors are unique, and they have certain kinds available during parts of the year.  Right now you can order flavors like “black raspberry chocolate chunk” and “caramel apple.”  There are two locations in Tallahassee:
1709 W Tharpe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32303

2475 Apalachee Parkway
Tallahassee, FL 32301

Cold Stone Creamery – CSC hosts a variety of cool treat options, including cakes, yogurt, sorbet, and specialty drinks.  As you wait for your creation, you can observe it coming together on…wait for it…a cold stone!  Ha!!!  There are two locations in Tallahassee:
2415 N Monroe Street, Ste 1108
Tallahassee, FL 32303
(Inside mall, near AMC Tallahassee 20)

1444 W Tennessee Street, # 2
Tallahassee, FL 32304

Dairy Queen and Chill – You will find more than ice cream here.  This particular restaurant sells food as well as ice cream.  If you haven’t tried a Blizzard before, do yourself a favor and order one immediately.  That is one of their most popular cool treats and what they are known for overall.  Dairy Queen also has great ice cream cakes!
1319 Capital Cir Pkwy SE
Tallahassee, FL 32301

Fiocco – This spot is inside the larger Urban Food Market.  It’s a fun atmosphere, and you can snag some delicious Italian food while you are there.  Fiocco’s specialty is gelato.  With more than 20 flavors, you’re sure to find something tasty!
2415 N Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32303

Lofty Pursuits – This place is like stepping back into a soda fountain and ice cream saloon in the early 20th century.  Not only can you get an ice cream cone with over 35 flavors (perhaps some Mexican hot chocolate, Champagne Sorbet, or even a Vegan Cherry Oblivion?), they also have a fun toy store.  You have been warned.  I actually dragged my youngest out of the store kicking and screaming because he wanted a toy.  Not his finest moment…or mine.
1355 Market Street
Ste A11
Tallahassee, FL 32312

Mr. Cool Ice Cream & Boba Tea – For a unique ice cream treat, check out Mr. Cool.  It is considered a Thai style ice cream roll.  It’s not your typical ice cream, but give it a try, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.  Find them on Facebook at Mr. Cool Tallahassee for more information!
633 W Tennessee Street
Tallahassee, FL 32304

N2 Sweets – At N2 Sweets, you might feel like you have entered a science lab.  They use liquid nitrogen, blasted at -321 degrees Fahrenheit, to create their delicious ice cream.  Also, you can actually get a two-in-one treat there.  Have you ever tried a donut ice cream sandwich?  There is a first time for everything.  Ice do nut no how this even came into existence (see what I did there?).
1878 Thomasville Road
Tallahassee, FL  32303

Sugar Rush – Indeed.  I get one just looking at their Facebook page.  Their creations are truly a work of art, so it is hard to even bite into it…almost.  Search for their Facebook page at Sugar Rush Bar Tallahassee for more information.
414 All Saints Street, Unit 114
Tallahassee, Florida 32301

Snow Cones

Big Easy SnowballsSometimes you just need some flavored ice.  Big Easy Snowballs will do the trick.  There are so many options that it is overwhelming!  They have “Simple” combinations (ice and syrup only) and “Decadent” combinations (stuffed with soft-serve ice cream).  There are two locations in Tallahassee:
2819 Mahan Drive
Tallahassee, FL  32308

1621 N. Monroe
(The Cottages of Lake Ella)
Tallahassee, FL 32303

Nuberri – If you would rather indulge in yogurt, Nuberri might be the place for you.  With lots of fun flavors to choose from, make sure to sample first.  Also, if you are the type of person who doesn’t like your food (or yogurt) to mix, ask for a special divider to slide down into your container. You will get your yogurt first and then weigh the bowl for your final total.  There are two locations in Tallahassee:
101 N Blair Stone Road
Tallahassee, FL 32301

2910 Kerry Forest Pkwy
Tallahassee, FL 32309

Sweet Frog –   This is another yogurt place to check out.  At Sweet Frog, you pay ahead for the size of the cup you get.  Don’t forget to ask for a special sample cup before you dive into your final choice!
6753 Thomasville Road Suite 110
Tallahassee, FL 32312
