Passionate About Tallahassee
and the Moms Who Live Here

Mama, You GOT This!

We succeed as working moms, as stay at home moms, as mothers of multiple children, as single mothers, as foster mothers, and every mother in between.

So many times, I have seen a mother doubting herself when she really should not. Creating life and raising little humans is no easy feat – it needs to be celebrated! I believe mothers should spend more time being proud of their triumphs instead of focusing on what they think they did not accomplish. Every woman should know that they are doing the best with what they were given.

Motherhood is confusing, messy, and difficult.

No one talks about the ugly side of it. We put Instagram worthy photos of our children up, post cute things they say on Facebook, and show the world our beautiful, clean, well-behaved children. We do not share about the late nights, the crying, the messes, the confusion, the self-doubt, the heartache, the powerless feelings, and the utter exhaustion. But we should; and all of it should be applauded.

Life will throw you curve balls all the time, and though it is nice to hit it out the park, sometimes stepping to the plate is the real achievement.

Getting up in the morning, fixing the kids breakfast, harping at everyone to brush their teeth and wash their faces, gulping down a cold cup of coffee, and finally settling into whatever routine (or lack thereof) you have is something to be proud of. Staying motivated in a time of hardship is extremely difficult. Finding the motivation to do something that you have no desire to do is equally stressful. However, adverse situations arise, and moms are forced to adapt.

Emotions and people motivate us. Our loved ones, friends, and family, all serve as a support group for us; they are our personal cheerleaders!

While all this is wonderful, our biggest motivators should be ourselves. This is where mothers need to reevaluate; mothers need to motivate themselves. Self-love is an important, and overlooked aspect. Telling yourself that you are worth that promotion, that you are beautiful, that you are a good mother, is the strongest motivational tool anyone can use. Remaining positive and maintaining a high self-esteem will get you what you want out of life. Simply, believing in yourself is essential. Giving yourself confidence is a beautiful characteristic that everyone can benefit from.

Though it may not be the easiest task, try to tell yourself that you are worth it and will succeed.

Surround yourself with those who are on your team, rooting for you! Make the most of each opportunity, no matter how unusual or out of reach, it may seem. Life will become more enjoyable and more appealing when you are looking at it with positive thoughts and an open mind.

“The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.” -Confucius
